ABSTRACT:
A roll for use in paper making has a surface comprising a porous material in which the press have been sealed by an electrolyte to achieve optimal paper web dewatering capacity, lessen adherence of a paper web to the roll surface, and to improve the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of the roll coating. A method of making the roll by electrochemical deposition of the electrolyte in the pores of the roll surface is also disclosed.
