ABSTRACT:
A method of providing an estimation of a mobile station's location in a cellular communication system having a plurality of base stations and mobile stations is disclosed. The mobile station's location is provided by measuring radio propagation parameters between the mobile station and each base station within propagation range of the mobile station. Then, a location probability density function (pdf) is found based on the measured radio propagation parameters. A joint probability density function (pdf) is then constructed by combining each individual function which is obtained. The location of the mobile station is then estimated from the resulting joint probability density function (pdf).
