A method of increasing the yield of legumes (soybeans) utilizing a compound of the formula ##STR1## where R is chloromethyl or dichloromethyl; R.sup.1 is lower alkyl, vinyl or phenyl; R.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl and R.sup.3 is hydrogen or lower alkyl.
