ABSTRACT:
A method of eliminating chloroacetylenes present in small quantities in hydrogen chloride gas. The method comprises passing hydrogen chloride contaminated with chloroacetylenes over active carbon at a temperature from 50.degree. to 250.degree.C. The method of the invention can plainly be applied to the treatment of hydrogen chloride discharged from works where monochloroacetic acid is prepared, prior to compression of the hydrogen chloride.
