In accordance with one embodiment, a lowest level of a voltage signal applied to the scan electrode during the address period is less than a lowest level of a voltage signal applied to the scan electrode during a sustain period, and a highest level of the voltage signal applied to the scan electrode during the address period is greater than the lowest level of the voltage signal applied to the scan electrode during the sustain period. Other embodiments vary these levels during one or more periods.
