ABSTRACT:
A color filter40has a light-transmissive substrate2, a reflecting layer3formed on the back substrate2and provided with openings4, boundary layers5and21formed on the reflecting layer3, and a plurality of coloring layers6enclosed by the boundary layers5and21. A transparent coat layer25is provided between the reflecting layer3and the boundary layers5and21. A step is formed between the openings4and the transparent coat layer25. The coloring layers6are formed by applying the droplets150of colored fluid to the openings4first, and then to the transparent coat layer25. The difference in color saturation of the color filter40in a reflective display mode and a transmissive display mode is reduced. Also, a liquid material is appropriately applied to the color filter40, to enhance color balance.
