ABSTRACT:
An apparatus and a process for treating household refuse are disclosed. Household refuse or garbage is comminuted, dried and mixed with granular mineral substance, preferably sand, at a temperature of up to 1000.degree. C. and the mixture is homogenized and degassed by the contact of the refuse with the hot sand until the garbage and refuse has been reduced in volume to a desired degree.
