ABSTRACT:
A new method is disclosed for recovering elemental iron and manganese present in oxide form in waste slag obtained from oxygen steel production. The metal oxides are reduced in the presence of carbon or carbon combined with a coal mine waste material and an Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 -containing additive present in the form of a silicate.
