ABSTRACT:
A method for sealing a leak from the end of a thermowell pipe comprising the steps of providing a hollow fitting member having a first end and a second end. The second end having an annular tapered ridge extending therefrom and attaching the first end of the hollow fitting member to a pipe. Further providing a weather protection cap designed to enclose the hollow fitting member and engage the annular tapered ridge of the first hollow fitting member and replacing the weather protection cap when a leak develops in the end of the pipe where the cap member comprises a hollow sealing member having a first end and a second end the first end, the hollow member forming an annular tapered channel configured to compliment the shape of the annular tapered ridge of the first hollow fitting member and to sealingly engage the annular tapered ridge of the first hollow fitting member such that the hollow sealing member substantially retains its original configuration when the annular tapered channel receives the annular tapered ridge. The method may further employ the use of other embodiments provided.
