Improved antiperspirant compositions having an astringent material suspended in a hydrophobic medium, and emulsions of aqueous solutions of astringent materials in a hydrophobic medium, said compositions having added thereto from 1 to 5% by weight of a C.sub.3 to C.sub.8 alkanediol compound.
