ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a compound of the formula (VIII) or (IX) useful as precursor for the C-ring in taxanes ##STR1## wherein R' is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl. The invention further relates to the novel compounds (VIII) and (IX) and to novel intermediates in said process.
