ABSTRACT:
3-bromo-1,1,1-trifluoropropane is produced by reacting 3,3,3-trifluoropropene with hydrogen bromide at elevated temperature, e.g., 150.degree. C. to 800.degree. C., in the presence of an active carbon catalyst. The conversion, yield and selectivity are unexpectedly high.
