ABSTRACT:
The invention provides a method and an apparatus for measuring asphaltene precipitation in a petroleum product. The inventive method quantifies the precipitation by measuring changes in the petroleum product's conductivity or capacitance. The inventive apparatus comprises a measuring cell adapted to be filled with a petroleum product or a solution of the product and a flocculant, together with an instrument electrically coupled to the measuring cell for measuring the product's or solution's conductivity or capacitance.
