ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a sign or similar article by providing a fiber reinforced plastic laminate structure having pre-selected dissimilar laminate layers. After sandblasting, the dissimilar materials that have been exposed present different textured patterns to the observer, and therefore allow the sign designer greater latitude in the design and layout of the sign. Portions of the sign material may extend outwardly or downwardly from the sign body, for connection to the ground or any other secondary support structure. The materials of construction of the sign apparatus significantly enhance the longevity of the structure, as compared to the sandblasted wooden structures currently being used which are subject to rot or decay.
