An apparatus and method are provided for transducing information with respect to record cards such as oblong cards containing magnetic recording material. In one form, a magnetic record card is made to conform or extend parallel to the cylindrical surface of a drum supporting a magnetic transducer which rotates to scan one or more selected tracks of the card. The card may extend in a circular or helical path while scanning occurs or may be driven in such a path during scanning.
