ABSTRACT:
There is provided according to the invention a method for producing a composite material mainly composed of a carbon and boron comprising the steps of impregnating a carbon material with a boron oxide and/or a hydrate compound thereof, and baking such carbon material under pressure by inert gas at a temperature of not lower than 1500.degree. C. A neutron absorbent and an oxidation resistant carbon material both including the composite material are also provided.
