ABSTRACT:
Chlorination of benzoyl chloride at controlled temperatures in the presence of a ferric halide-iodine cocatalyst system, and in the absence of solvent provides higher yields of the meta-isomer of monochlorobenzoyl chloride than is obtained when a single catalyst such as, e.g. FeCl.sub.3 only is used.
