ABSTRACT:
A method is provided for producing a benzaldehyde compound represented by the formula (2):wherein Q1and Q2represent a hydrogen atom etc., including the step of reacting a compound represented by the formula (1):wherein X represents a chlorine atom etc., and Q1and Q2are respectively the same meaning as above, with a secondary nitroalkane and a base in the presence of an alkali metal iodide.
