The invention relates to a method for preparing silanes comprising styryl groups, said silanes being represented by the general formula (I):in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?(St)bSiR′aR4−a−bin-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?with improved yields through a reaction with magnesium in a solvent mixture comprising from 30:70 to 70:30 (v/v) of diethyl ether and tetrahydrofuran.
