ABSTRACT:
A method is provided for mitigating injury to a kidney resulting from an ischemic event. The method includes the step of administering bicarbonate to the body of a subject at a dosage ranging from 1.5 mEq/kg of body weight to 5.0 mEq/kg of body weight within a 24-hour period.
