ABSTRACT:
A magnetic recording medium manufacturing method in which a magnetic coating solution is applied as an upper-layer coating solution to a lower-layer coating solution which has been applied to a web in advance and is still wet. The magnetic coating solution is applied to the lower-layer coating solution, which has a thickness of 4 .mu.m or less such that a stretch flow coefficient .epsilon. of the magnetic coating solution is 600 or less as determined from the equation .alpha.=V/v, where V is the velocity of conveyance of the web and v is the average linear velocity of the magnetic coating solution at the opening of the slot.
