ABSTRACT:
A process for making spectacle frame components having reproducible color patterns by molding components using a polyepoxide, a curing agent therefor and an organic dye of a certain color, which dye is thermally degradable at a temperature between about 140.degree. C. and 250.degree. C. The molded solid component is subjected to differential heating in accordance with a first predetermined pattern to cause exposed portions to undergo a distinct change to a different color. A second dye may also be included that thermally degrades at a different temperature and the component then subjected to a second predetermined pattern at a temperature intermediate of the two degradation temperatures.
