ABSTRACT:
Fine-grained, polycrystalline, basalt-type glass-ceramic fibers, having a crystal content of at least 35% and particular application as fiber reinforcement in concrete structures, are disclosed. A method of production comprises treating a vitreous fiber in the temperature range of 900.degree. to 1250.degree. C. for a time not exceeding ten minutes, and preferably less than one minute.
