A method for inhibiting the discoloration of methylenebisaniline compounds by adding a phosphine of the formula:in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?(H)p—P—(R3)qin-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?(wherein R3is an optionally substituted aryl group or an optionally substituted alkyl group; p is 0, 1 or 2 and q is 1, 2 or 3) to a compound of the formula:(wherein R1and R2are each independently a halogen atom or a C1-C6 alkyl group; a and b are each independently an integer of 0 to 4; m and n are each independently an integer of 1 to 5).
