ABSTRACT:
This invention concerns a method for extending the survival time of mammalian lung tissue subjected to ischemia, by which said tissue is perfused with a preservation solution comprising a therapeutic dose of the delta opioid DADLE ([D-Ala.sup.2,D-Leu.sup.5 ]-Enkephalin) under hypothermic conditions.
