ABSTRACT:
An unsintered tube of extruded ptfe resin is heated above its melting temperature of 327.degree. C, a positive pressure is established within the tube relative to the external pressure thereon to radially expand it, and the pressure is maintained until the tube is cooled below its melting point and set. Such a tube demonstrates superior strength and crack resistance when it is thereafter radially contracted around a core member by reheating, and its longitudinal shrinkage is minimized.
