ABSTRACT:
A transition metal compound in powdered form or a mixture of a transition metal compound and other inorganic compounds in powdered form can be effectively coated with a polymer by contacting such powder with a vinyl monomer in the presence of hydrogen sulfite ions (HSO.sub.3 .sup.-).
