ABSTRACT:
A method of bonding a glass and a metal with a low-melting glass frit, in which the low-melting glass frit contains from 1 to 10% by weight of an aluminum borate whisker, and the difference in linear expansion coefficient between the low-melting glass frit and the glass is 10.times.10.sup.-7 /.degree.C. or less; and a method for producing a cathode ray tube comprising the step of bonding a glass back plate and a metal stud pin with a low-melting glass frit, the low-melting glass frit containing from 1 to 10% by weight of an aluminum borate whisker, and the difference in linear expansion coefficient between the low-melting glass frit and the glass back plate being 10.times.10.sup.-7 /.degree.C. or less.
