ABSTRACT:
Primary amines, secondary amines and peptides are fluorometrically assayed using a fluorogenic derivatization reagent of the formula: ##STR1## where Z is an electron withdrawing group or a fused benzene ring, Y and Y', which are identical or different, are nitrogen or carbon and X is a halogen or other leaving group. The above fluorogenic reagent reacts with the primary amine, secondary amine or peptide to form a cyclic fluorescent adduct.
