ABSTRACT:
The present invention improves the safety of the use of sodium nitroprusside in the clinical setting. Specifically, this invention utilizes .alpha.-ketoglutaric acid or .alpha.-ketoglutaric acid and sodium thiosulfate to reduce sodium nitroprusside's toxic effects.
