ABSTRACT:
A method and arrangement for converting a single-row stream of containers, which is supplied via a feed mechanism, into a multi-row stream of containers that is to be withdrawn. A conversion region is used that is formed from an intermediate transport mechanism that is disposed between the feed mechanism and a withdrawal mechanism, and comprises a number of conveyor belts that have a common direction of transport. In the conversion region, the transport speed of the containers is reduced in stages while the width of the stream of containers increases. To effect conversion of the single-row stream of containers that is supplied from itself into the multi-row stream of containers without the influence of external jamming forces upon the containers, the containers are moved through the conversion region in the direction of transport of the conveyer belts, and the transport speed of the containers is reduced by stages in this direction of transport.
