ABSTRACT:
In a method and apparatus for generating a composite signal, a modulated signal corresponding to an n-bit digital data byte is inserted between consecutive carrier cycles of a carrier. The modulated signal is in the form of a ramp voltage of fixed duration and has a slope that corresponds to the n-bit digital data byte. The composite signal is demodulated by detecting the start of the modulated signal in the composite signal, determining the slope of the modulated signal, and converting the slope of the modulated signal into the n-bit digital data byte.
