A method and apparatus for machining fragile workpieces of any material, by placing the workpiece upon a convex support, tensioning the workpiece into coextensive engagement over the support, and moving a cutting tool away from an anchored end of the workpiece to establish transverse and longitudinal configurations at exposed sides of the workpiece when removed from the support.
