A method and an apparatus for determining geometrical data of a motor vehicle wheel2mounted rotatably about an axis of rotation1, in which in at least two planes19, 20which are perpendicular to the axis of rotation1, the distances of a plurality of measurement points on a respective periphery of the corresponding part of the wheel (wheel rim9) from a reference location5and the rotary angle positions of the respective measurement points are measured and the position of the motor vehicle wheel2with respect to the axis of rotation1is determined from the measurement values.
