ABSTRACT:
A charger abnormality detecting device and method uses a current detector for detecting a current flowing between a photoconductive drum and a charger arranged near the drum, a current detector for detecting a current flowing through the charger, and a voltage detector for detecting a high voltage applied to the charger. The type of abnormality of the charger is discriminated in accordance with currents and a voltage detected by the current detectors and the voltage detector, respectively.
