ABSTRACT:
An apparatus for closing a door (14), the door closer assembly (10) preferably including a torsional spring unit (12) and a pneumatic check device (22). The torsional spring unit (12) can be attached to a door frame (16) through the use of a bracket (20) whereas the pneumatic check (22) can be attached to the door (14) through the use of a bracket (24). The amount of closing force generated by the torsional spring unit (12) can be adjusted by tensioning the torsional spring (26); locking the two housing components (34) and (46) together; repositioning the locked housing unit and the door (14); and releasing the housings (34) and (46) to "restore" the formerly stored closing force at a new door position.
