ABSTRACT:
A process for producing hydrocarbons comprising contacting, under conversion conditions, an aqueous methanol with a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite catalyst which is hydrothermally stable in the temperature range of from 250.degree. C. to 500.degree. C. and is capable of converting methanol to hydrocarbons, and with a promoter comprising one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbons, precursors to aromatic hydrocarbons, olefins, precursors to olefins and aldehydes to form a mixture comprising light olefins, lower alkanes and monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and recovering said hydrocarbons.
