The use of novel methanoazulenofuran and methanoazulenone compounds for use as fragrance chemicals, suitable for use incorporated in a wide variety of products such as perfumes, colognes and personal care products having a structurewherein R is ═O, X is selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, C2H5, and CH2CH═CH2;or wherein R forms a fused ringwith the ring carbon at the X position, X is absent; andY and Z are selected from the group consisting of H and CH3.
