ABSTRACT:
Lubricants useful in metal working processes, especially cutting, comprise (A) a lubricating oil and (B) a basic alkali metal salt or borated complex thereof. Component B is preferably a basic sodium sulfonate prepared by a specific method. The lubricants may also contain at least one of (C) a specific active sulfur-containing compound and (D) a chlorinated wax.
