ABSTRACT:
A metal alloy having high catalytic activity comprising a refractory base metal mass containing carbon and at least one metal of the platinum type, the surface of which has been subjected to intergranular acid corrosion which produces microfissures and causes the formation of microcrystals of the platinum metals. The catalyst is useful in exhaust catalystic converters.
