ABSTRACT:
The instant invention is directed to a carbon molecular sieve, having a nitrogen diffusivity of less than 2600.times.10.sup.-8 cm.sup.2 /second, impregnated with from about 0.005 to about 15 percent, by weight, of a mercury reactive material.
The instant invention is also directed to a process for removing mercury vapor from gas streams which comprises passing a gas stream containing mercury vapor into contact with a carbon molecular sieve, having a nitrogen diffusivity of less than 2600.times.10.sup.-8 cm.sup.2 /second, impregnated with from about 0.005 to about 15 percent, by weight, of a mercury reactive material.
