ABSTRACT:
Novel maytansinoids of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is H or Cl, and R is ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be the same or different, and each is H or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon residue or heterocyclic group, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may, taken together with the adjacent N atom, form a heterocyclic group, and
R.sup.3 is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon residue, have antimitotic, antitumor and antimicrobial activities.
