ABSTRACT:
A mattress includes a recess for receivably seating a single-use receptacle having a screened opening for receiving fluids and wastes from the body of a bed patient. The sheet wrapping the mattress has an opening in registry with the receptacle opening. The receptacle, when filled with fluids, is removable by sliding the same through a slot in the mattress which extends from the mattress recess to one side thereof thereby avoiding the necessity of moving the patient. A fresh receptacle is similarly inserted into the mattress.
