ABSTRACT:
A marine exhaust system component includes a flexible silicone rubber conduit adapted for installation particularly between the engine and exhaust conduit. Heat resistant fibers are impregnated in the silicone rubber to add mechanical strength to the conduit Additional heat resistant compounds can be impregnated in the silicone rubber to improve the heat resistance of the conduit. The conduit is able to withstand operating temperatures of about 350.degree. F., and will survive intermittent temperatures of about 800.degree.-1200.degree. F. during engine malfunctions. The flexible silicone rubber conduit will substantially eliminate damage to the exhaust system caused by vibration and wrenching of the engine components during operation.
