ABSTRACT:
A combined heat exchanger, exhaust and induction manifold for attachment to an internal combustion engine in which a coolant jacket wholly or partially surrounds exhaust and induction manifolds. The jacket and manifolds are integrally formed as a single casting with the requisite passages to produce a compact sub assembly easily attached to the engine thereby simplifying engine building. Engine coolant circulated through the jacket controls exhaust manifold temperature and the heat exchanger cooled by a second medium, e.g. sea water, controls, with the aid of a thermostatic valve, the temperature of the engine coolant. Provision is made for mounting an exhaust driven turbocharger on the manifold at the outlet of the exhaust manifold.
