ABSTRACT:
A novel magnetic recording medium is disclosed comprising a non-magnetic support having provided thereon a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder and a binder, the ferromagnetic powder having a crystalline size of 250 .ANG. or less, and the surface of the magnetic layer having an ultramicrohardness of 40 g/(.mu.m).sup.2 or more.
