ABSTRACT:
A magnetic head comprises a lower magnetic pole, an insulating film formed on the lower magnetic pole, a coil arranged over the lower magnetic pole so as to penetrate the insulating film, and an upper magnetic pole having a pole at its top end so as to have a clearance against the lower magnetic pole and formed of magnetic material having saturation magnetic flux density Bs (T) and electric resistivity .rho. (.mu..OMEGA.cm) on the insulating film to have a film thickness .delta. (.mu.m), and both sides of the upper magnetic pole being formed to extend from root portions of the pole at a taper angle .theta. (degree), whereby the upper magnetic pole can satisfy a condition of (1+tan .theta.).delta.Bs/.sqroot..rho..ltoreq.1.0.
