ABSTRACT:
A magnetic disk having an underlayer, a layer of magnetic material, and a protective layer applied on a substrate. The protective layer comprises sputtered particles of two differently controlled grain sizes wherein the particles of one grain size are at least two times greater than the particles of the other grain size.
