ABSTRACT:
A multilayer cylindrical or rectangular shielding container oriented to pect computer components primarily from magnetic and electromagnetic field disturbances of cloud-to-ground electric lightning strokes is provided. The shielding container is formed of spaced magnetic and nonmagnetic walls. The container preferably is oriented vertically, and leads and cables entering and leaving the container are passed through the top and bottom ends thereof to provide maximum protection from electric fields and from the the predominantly horizontal components of the magnetic field vectors that propagate from such strokes.
