ABSTRACT:
A magnesium base treating agent of molten iron characterized in that magnesium in the form of particle, powder or piece, having particle size of approximately less than 5 mm, contains one or more of additive components selected from the group of magnesia, zirconia, titania, graphite, coke, charcoal, clay, bentonite, resins, glue, cellulosic type binder, carbohydrate type binder and water-soluble silicic acid binder in 25 to 85% by weight over the whole weight of the moulding, and water of less than 1% by weight, the softening temperature after moulding is in the range from 1000.degree. to 1450.degree. C, and the porosity is between 20 and 50%.
